This one-of-a-kind lampshade is painted entirely by hand using a palette of soft sage green, warm cream and madder red.
The design is made up of rhythmic painterly patterns that echo traditional textile motifs — dotted textures, zigzag borders and soft washes of colour layered over the surface. The effect is intentionally loose and organic, allowing the brushwork and hand of the artist to remain visible.
The palette was chosen to complement classic English interiors and works particularly beautifully alongside colours such as Farrow & Ball's Green Smoke or Lichen.
When illuminated, the translucent layers of paint create a gentle warmth that brings the patterns softly to life.
Each shade is painted slowly and individually in my Shropshire studio, meaning no two will ever be the same.
Designed as a small piece of functional artwork, it works beautifully on a bedside table, reading lamp or console table.

TAKING CARE OF YOUR LAMPSHADE
Care of your lampshade - I have been painting lampshades for nearly 10 years now, using professional artist's paint which is designed to be lightfast and not fade. You do not need to treat your lampshade any differently to a normal fabric lampshade - a light dust from time to time is all it will need. The paint sinks into the fabric fibres, as it would on a canvas, so once dry, it effectively becomes part of the shade and will not chip or flake.
