Painted by hand in my Shropshire studio, this lampshade is inspired by traditional folk art and the enduring symbolism of the oak tree — a quiet emblem of home, strength and continuity.
The background is a deep, inky blue, chosen to feel rich and grounding rather than decorative. Across it, stylised acorns and oak leaves are painted in muted shades of sage green and soft taupe, arranged rhythmically in the manner of old folk paintings and early decorative work. The brushstrokes are intentionally visible, giving the piece warmth, character and a distinctly human touch.
When lit, the dark blue surface softens beautifully, creating an intimate pool of light and allowing the earthy tones of the motif to glow gently. It is a lampshade that feels both decorative and calm — designed to sit quietly within a room rather than dominate it.
Each lampshade is painted slowly by hand and no two are ever the same. This piece is a small work of art, made to be lived with and enjoyed every day.

TAKING CARE OF YOUR LAMPSHADE
Care of your lampshade - I have been painting lampshades for nearly 10 years now, using professional artist's paint which is designed to be lightfast and not fade. You do not need to treat your lampshade any differently to a normal fabric lampshade - a light dust from time to time is all it will need. The paint sinks into the fabric fibres, as it would on a canvas, so once dry, it effectively becomes part of the shade and will not chip or flake.
