Bring a little seafaring character into your home with this one-of-a-kind hand-painted lampshade. A historical sea captain in naval uniform takes centre stage, surrounded by a colourful pattern of anchors and compass motifs. Painted entirely by hand, it is a small work of art to enjoy every day.

The inspiration behind the Sea Captain lampshade

Inspired by a visit to the American Museum near Bath, this design celebrates the charm of historical portraiture and decorative pattern. Deep red is balanced with blue, black and white, creating a lively palette for a home filled with collected objects, vintage textiles and stories.

A one-of-a-kind artwork for your home

Every mark is painted by me, making this shade an individual piece rather than a repeated print. Display it on a side table, hallway console or bedside lamp, where its portrait and painterly details can be appreciated up close.

When lit, it casts a warm, inviting glow, bringing colour and personality to your room. It belongs to The Painter’s Studio Collection.

Caring for your hand-painted lampshade

A gentle dust from time to time is all your lampshade needs. I use professional artist’s paints chosen for their lightfast qualities. The paint settles into the fabric fibres, becoming part of the surface rather than a coating that chips or flakes.
